St. Edward's Faith Formation program is dedicated to nurturing young disciples in their journey to come to know their faith and Jesus. With programs tailored to both middle and high school students, as well as a unique and engaging elementary program, our formation process is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Catholic faith, with a special emphasis on the Sacraments and active participation in the Body of Christ.
Elementary Faith Formation
Our elementary program is designed to provide a hybrid faith formation experience, offering flexibility through Google Meets with varied days and times to accommodate families. This format ensures that children receive faith instruction in a way that fits their schedules while still benefiting from several in-person community events and one grade-level event each year.
Children engage in faith-based discussions, helping them develop a deeper understanding of their beliefs. Our program is family-friendly, encouraging siblings and parents to join in on Google Meets, fostering a shared faith experience at home. Each month, families receive interactive slides and videos, creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment.
To support their spiritual growth, all children in third grade and above receive a Bible, to use as their textbook during monthly Google Meets. Through the bible we are able to explore many stories from the old and new testaments. They are also introduced to the Rosary, learning how to pray this powerful devotion and deepen their relationship with Mary.
Middle and High School Faith Formation
Our middle and high school faith formation program is designed to engage students in an active and transformative relationship with Jesus. By focusing on the Sacraments, students gain a deeper understanding of their faith and the grace received through participation in the Church’s sacred traditions.
To ensure accessibility and flexibility, we provide multiple opportunities each month for students to attend sessions. This allows families to participate in faith formation while accommodating their busy schedules. The Breakthrough Bible serves as the primary textbook, helping students dive deeper into Scripture and develop a strong foundation in the Word of God.
Additionally, students have free access to Formed, an online Catholic streaming platform that provides enriching content. It has often been called the "Catholic Netflix." This resource allows them to continue their faith journey at home with movies, books, and faith-based programs.
Faith formation at St. Edward’s is not just about learning—it’s about living our faith. Through our new Youth Room for high school students, we foster a welcoming and engaging environment where teens can gather, share, and grow spiritually. We also provide numerous opportunities for service, encouraging students to be the hands and feet of Christ in the community.
A key highlight of the program is the Confirmation retreat at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA. This powerful experience deepens students' faith and prepares them for the sacrament of Confirmation. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in the Living Stations of the Cross during Lent, bringing Christ’s Passion to life in a meaningful way. The opportunity for weekly Adoration and bible study further enhance their spiritual growth, allowing them to spend quiet time in the presence of Jesus.
At St. Edward’s, we are committed to forming faithful disciples and strong Catholic families. Through engaging instruction, meaningful community events, and a focus on active participation in the Church, our Faith Formation program provides children and teens with the tools they need to grow in their faith and become true followers of Christ.
