Pre-K Faith Formation Program

For Four Year Olds (child must turn 4 by December 31, 2012)
Pre-K classes meet every week on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. & 12:30-1:30pm

Classes begin Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Our Pre-K Faith Formation program introduces the preschoolers to their Catholic faith in a fun and stimulating environment filled with lots of love!  Every effort is made to help nurture the children’s growth and independence while celebrating how God made all of us special and unique. The children will learn about all the wonderful things they can do.  They will learn through literature, music, art and most importantly prayer in an atmosphere of sharing and getting along with others.  The children will also have several opportunities to participate in a variety of community outreach projects throughout the year that are age-appropriate and rewarding.   Children are never too young to experience God’s love!

Kindergarten Faith Formation Program

Kindergarten classes meet every week on Thursdays
AM Kindergarten meets 9-10am
PM Kindergarten meets 1-2pm
Classes begin on Thursday, September 20th, 2012

Our Kindergarten Faith Formation program is a wonderful opportunity to introduce the children to their Catholic faith in a fun, safe and nurturing environment!  Each class has a message which is demonstrated through prayer, story and activities such as music and arts and crafts. The children will be taught several prayers including the “Glory Be”, “Our Father” and “Hail Mary”.  They will learn about topics which include how God made the world and everything in it and how we can take care of it.  They will learn how God loves each of us and how we are all very special.  The children will listen to stories from the Children’s Bible and learn the messages those stories tell.   The children will also have several opportunities to participate in a variety of community outreach projects throughout the year that are age-appropriate and rewarding.   This is a great way for the younger members of our parish to feel God’s love!

First Grade Faith Formation Program

Classes meet on Tuesdays from 4-5:30pm during the “A” Week only
Classes begin on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

Our First Grade Faith Formation program focuses on the Holy Trinity – God, our Father; Jesus, His son and the Holy Spirit.  The children will learn about how God loves them and the many beautiful things God has done to show His love for all of us, especially by sending us Jesus to love and follow.  They will learn about the wonderful gift we have received from God in the form of His son, Jesus and the sacrifices He made for us.  They will also learn about the presence of the Holy Spirit and the importance of that gift to us.  The children will grow in their faith through activities that are both creative and fun.  We will cover topics that include The Holy Family, Saints, Church feasts and seasons, Prayer and the Bible.  They will learn to  prayer and learn prayers which include “Glory Be”, “Our Father” and “Hail Mary”. Throughout the year the children will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of community outreach projects that are age-appropriate and rewarding.  We hope that you will share in your child’s Faith journey as they learn that they are members of a larger Church Family.

Second Grade Sacramental Program

Classes meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30pm during the “A” Week only
Classes begin on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 and Thursday, September 27th, 2012

Our Second Grade Faith Formation program focuses on preparing the children for the Sacraments of First  Reconciliation and  First Eucharist.  In addition they will learn about the Church and being a member of the larger Church Family by participating in the mass and learning to pray.  They will learn about the major seasons and events making up the Church calendar such as Advent, Lent, Christmas and Easter. They will participate in projects that are both creative and service oriented. Since the celebration of sacraments are “family” events, our emphasis will be on your child together with your family becoming part of the larger Catholic Family through Eucharist.  The program includes two Family retreats with one focusing on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the other on the Sacrament of Eucharist.

The children will be given a Reconciliation booklet and a Mass booklet so that they may feel further connected to the Sacraments for which they are being prepared.  Throughout the year the children will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of community outreach projects that are age-appropriate and rewarding.  We hope that this program will provide an experience that is meaningful for your entire family.  Come along on this Faith journey as we celebrate the Sacraments together.

Please note: If your child was not baptized at St. Edward you will need to provide a copy of their Baptismal Certificate to the Faith Formation Office as soon as possible. Thank you.
